The people involved in the development of the Sorbothane product range in the early 1990s have never been in any doubt about the product's effectiveness as a shock absorption and vibration control material across a wide range of applications. So when the European rights to manufacture and market Sorbothane for industrial applications became available, the original team reformed to take advantage of the opportunity.
The Sorbothane team is now back together under the auspices of Leyland Rubber Components Ltd, headed up by Managing Director, Chris Turner. The company will manufacture Sorbothane at its factory in Leyland, Lancashire, for supply to customers throughout Europe.
At its launch, Sorbothane was the best shock absorption and vibration control product on the market, and still is today. Independent tests have shown that Sorbothane is the finest cushioning material available, capable of shock absorption levels of up to 94.7%.
"This was an opportunity too good to miss", says Chris Turner. "I was involved in the development of Sorbothane in the 1990s and have always been convinced of the product's potential. I was keen to involve other members of that early team, and as it turned out I was pushing an open door! I’ve been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm everyone has had for this project and am thrilled to be working with my old colleagues again."

About Sorbothane
Sorbothane is a proprietary visco-elastic material. It is custom moulded and specified by engineers worldwide for its superior damping and isolation properties. Sorbothane is scientifically proven to be the finest cushioning material available; in many applications and laboratory tests Sorbothane has achieved shock absorption levels of up to 94.7%. These unprecedented results are possible because Sorbothane maintains stability and damping over a broad range of temperatures and frequencies, enabling it to isolate damaging vibrations and impact shock in varied conditions. Its near faultless memory ensures a return to original shape, even after repeated compressions, making Sorbothane ideal for a variety of engineering design applications requiring shock absorption, vibration isolation and acoustical damping. No other material can dissipate energy as effectively using less space and less material.
